National Food Waste Campaign

National Food Waste Campaign should focus on avoidance of food waste, but as there will always be food waste (peelings etc) how putting your food waste into a food waste bin will ensure your food waste can be used to generate energy.

Why the contribution is important

Not many people are aware that food waste bins are available for free.  That food waste going to landfill is exceptional bad for the environment, but it can be used positively to generate energy.

I agree we all need to ramp up how much we recycle. Even as a 'good' recycler myself, I sometimes still have doubts about eg what plastics I can/cant put in the plastic/paper bin. So a better 'notice-board' A4 size instruction sheet would help- maybe send it out twice a year (the benefits would outweigh the negative of more printing and posting of the leaflets). WRT food waste, its a lot more straightforward what is/isnt to be put in them, so people have less excuses. A polite question about your statement 'Not many people are aware that food waste bins are available for free.' My personal view is that it is more likely that 'some people just cant be bothered and show a blatant disregard for the future....'. Do you not feel thats the bigger issue? I think we need larger fines and more spot-checking (yes really!) of what people put in their bins. It happens in other countries.......
