Community food growing land
Currently we (TES) have Scottish Government wellbeing funding to work with families from Gracemount Primary in Gracemount Community Garden to help them out of lockdown. This should be available in other parts of Edinburgh.
Why the contribution is important
The aim of the project is to reduce isolation for vulnerable children and families attending P1 and 2 classes at Gracemount Primary School
We are providing mental health and wellbeing support to both the vulnerable children and other family members, both directly through attendance at the garden and other greenspaces on site, and indirectly through promoting activities and positive impacts at home. These sessions focus on learning about how food is grown, the importance of bio-diversity eg identifying plants and wildlife, composting, and how being outside and taking exercise helps with relaxation and letting go of stress, particularly during the current crisis.
