We need trees. Wildflower meadows are good too - how about mixing community orchards with wildflower meadows for biodiversity and community draw.
Why the contribution is important
We need low maintenance ways to attract community into these spaces. With so much space available there ought to be a wide range of modes of interest.
Some plum, cherry and apple trees for instance, maybe add in damsons, walnuts etc etc...
we need our whole communities to use and be drawn *into* these spaces. Not only look pretty and serve local biodiversity (which is crucial too of course!)
it also helps to encourage sense of food source for children coming into the green spaces and opens conversations about where our food comes from, what forms of nature are involved in the life cycles etc etc.
