Currently there is a huge amount of building going on along the Edinburgh foreshore near Granton Harbour. There appears to be NO provision of recreational green spaces, or, more importantly NO provision of allotments for sustainable food growing. As we come out of lockdown and face the challenges of climate change as communities together, sustainable food growing should be a top priority. We are in big danger of creating sterile environments with these new build areas around Edinburgh.
Why the contribution is important
Creating new allotments allows people to build a healthy community both physically and mentally. It provides food security. It champions Climate Change, empowering people to argue the case for the planet. As a result of this it builds resilience and awareness for future generations.
