Borrow tools rather than buy them

Why not visit the Edinburgh Tool Library if you fancy having a go at DIY, gardening or decorating.  You can borrow tools, take part in courses or even drop by one of their workshops to recondition/make your own items.

Why the contribution is important

Not only will you save money as you don't need to buy expensive and one off tools, it promotes sharing as a way of reducing our environmental impact.  In addition, you can learn lots of new skills letting you make/recondition your own items, saving money and creating that feeling of satisfaction.  It's also a great way to meet some friendly faces.

This is a great idea. However, I personally can only wield a small selection of tools that I use all the time:)

I’m really taken with The Library of Things.

Looking online. Choosing and paying a minimum amount. Using it and returning it. Tracking your impact by the waste you have saved from landfill. Now this is a service I would definitely use:)
